Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a senior living advisor cost?

In most cases, our service is absolutely free for our clients and families and you will not be charged. Fees are typically 100% covered by our senior care partners and service providers who work with Sage Senior Care Advisors. For clients that are currently on Medicaid, or for in-home consultation services, we do charge a nominal fee to help find support or placement.

What can a senior living advisor do for me?

Our job is to fully understand your loved one’s situation and to assist your family in navigating the often complex and confusing options of senior care. Based on care needs, budget, and location preference, we will put together a plan to explore options and to help you understand the costs and benefits of the many available choices. We will set up tours and accompany you to meet with and evaluate each community. Once you make a decision and choose the best option, we will support you with getting your loved one moved into their new community.

How do I know if my parent or loved one needs senior care?

There are many situations that can result in the need to move someone into a senior living community. Oftentimes, a spouse or other family member has been caring for a senior and can no longer continue to support them in their current environment. Or possibly they have had an injury or illness that has led to them going to the hospital and then they cannot return home. Each person’s situation is unique and we can help you assess your loved one’s needs and set up the best service or living environment possible.

My loved one is being discharged from a healthcare facility and cannot go home. What should I do?

Don’t panic! This is a common scenario that many people find themselves in and they need to find a solution quickly. This is the time to call us! We can help you find the right community for your loved one’s needs, budget, location, and time frame.

How do I know if the senior living community referred by Sage Senior Care Advisors is a safe and caring place for my loved one?

We have personally visited each of the care communities we partner with and can offer our professional perspective. It is our priority to help you evaluate each senior care community and encourage your family to tour facilities before you make a choice so that you can feel confident about your decision.

How much does senior living cost?

The cost of senior care varies greatly from facility to facility and depending on the type of care offered such as independent living, assisted living, memory care, or nursing home care. Some facilities charge on a month-to-month basis and some have an upfront cost such as a community fee or buy-in fee. Also, long-term care insurance or Veterans Benefits can help cover part or all of the expense of care. We will review with you the costs for your particular need and help identify services and communities that meet your unique situation and budget.
